College Basketball National Championship Odds for March Madness

March Madness is upon us, and now, more than ever, is the time to start watching the NCAA National Championship odds. The performances at the NCAA tournament could not only line your pockets, but it proves to be the biggest litmus test for March Madness odds year after year.

There’s no doubt that this year’s Championship is centered around Gonzaga and Baylor, but don’t be too quick to underwrite the other rising stars. Between shortened season time, new players, and varying degrees of offensive armies, some key teams are demanding attention as the NCAA National Championship odds go up across the board.

Let’s see who’s bound to be working hard for your money when you bet on college basketball now

Gonzaga

If any team is poised to dominate for the 2021 championships, the Zags are at the front of the pack. If you’ve watched Gonzaga play for a while, there’s no doubt you’ve witnessed the ruthless and efficient court-aerobics that have set them up as an undefeated team.

Coach Mark Few is highlighting this stage of his coaching career with a solid arsenal of offensive weapons that any opponent would be hard-pressed to match in the defensive. Right now, the offense is ranked No. 2. Already, four of the Bulldogs have an average of 11 points per game, with players like the veteran Corey Kispert averaging 20.2 points per game

Needless to say, Gonzaga is front and center on the list of favorites, and the NCAA national championship odds are set at +250. This is likely the safest bet you can make right now for NCAA basketball betting, and may also prove to be in March Madness odds, so stay tuned!

Baylor

It’s safe to say the Bears are the only team out there who have a chance at swiping away Gonzaga’s claim to the No.1 overall seed in March. If anything, we can say this team has shown staunch resilience as they’ve pushed on and improved their game tremendously since 2019/20.

Aside from that, it’s no secret Baylor all but crushes every team they beat, with the exception of just two games (Texas Tech and Kansas), where they lost by only 8 points. Their poised offense doesn’t so much as flinch at any sign of aggression on the court.

Then you’ve got the power-duo leaders of Baylor’s top-3 defense, Davion Mitchell and Mart Vita, who are the most reliable at keeping the ball in front court. Add junior guard Jared Butler, who’s three-pointer percentage stands strong at 44%, and the Bears are an unstoppable force.

The bottom line is that, if you’re looking for another favourite to get behind in NCAA basketball betting, Baylor is where it’s at.

Michigan

Just under Gonzaga and Baylor are the Wolverines. At least, that’s how they were up until their last match on January 22, at which point they paused due to a COVID-19-related interruption. Since then, they haven’t played a single game.

KenPom has officially placed Michigan in the top 10 for efficiency in offense and defense, and the team is in the national top 10 for two-point in both offense and defense. With a pool of heavy-hitters like 6′ 7 Isaiah Livers, 6’9” Franz Wagner and 7’1” leading scorer Hunter Dickson on the offense, it seems like PG Mike Smith at a modest 5’11” won’t be the lone star who steals the show.

After all the interruptions caused by Coronavirus, there’s a chance the Wolverines won’t be returning on full polish. But if they can get Dickinson back on top of his game after appearing to slack in offense just before the break, Michigan has a good chance of making waves.

With NCAA National Championship odds at +300, it’s not a bad idea to add Michigan to your NCAA basketball betting slips all the way up to the March Madness odds.

Illinois

Illinois was a team to be reckoned with just last year, but didn’t quite live up to their momentum when they continued to fall short in their shooting game. Now after losing five games, including to Baylor by 13 points on Dec 2, it may seem wise to call it quits for Illini. But not so fast.

Consider that Illinois has robustly proved their stamina by skyrocketing from their national ranking in effective field goal percentage from 235 to 9, and for three-point shooting going from 310th to 11th. Those are not small feats, and Illini just might be the team to shake things up for NCAA basketball betting this year.

Then with players like Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn (7’0”) who average 38.4 points and 16.8 rebounds combined, opponents have something to watch out for.

All in all, with odds at +1500, Illinois isn’t on the top of the favourite’s list for NCAA basketball betting, but you never know what might come up for March Madness odds down the road.

Virginia

The Cavaliers suffered a defeat to Gonzaga at 95-75, but slightly made up for it with a win against The Heat at 62-51. All in all, Virginia has won 10 out of their 11, which proves they’ve got it in them, although not with total consistency (and who could blame them for losing to Gonzaga?). Having said that, the Cavs are still in the running as the top 3 seed.

Assuming Virginia can give their offense a much needed face-lift, they might be in good shape. Kihei Clark, who was the only remaining player since the championships in 2018-19, is on the starting line-up and is sure to contribute to the cause. Best of all is the addition of arguably the best “big men” shooters out there, Jay Huff, who’s a senior center standing at 7’1”.

With NCAA National Championship odds at +3500, Virginia is coming in as an underdog, but they’re still a wild card to beat.
